The Phoenix Rise announce that they’ve signed Blaine McConnell, 29, of Tacoma, Washington.

"I feel like I have a lot to bring to the table," said McConnell, who played Division I football at the University of Idaho and who now plays arena football in Washington.

McConnell said he is looking forward to building on his athletic background and being an integral player on the grid for the Rise.

"Even though you still have your individual aspects, just like football, you've got to practice your position but go out and compete as a team," he said.

At 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 205 lb, McConnell boasts the following lifts:
Back squat: 515 lb
Deadlift: 550 lb
Clean and jerk: 395 lb
Snatch: 325 lb

When McConnell is not training, he enjoys golfing, spending time with friends, going to the shooting range and eating the occasional pizza. He also still carries the nickname he earned in college for his dance moves — Wiggles.
